Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
For Good Food
for Good Fellowship
and the Opportunity to
Serve through Rotary
Australians all let us rejoice,
For we are young and free,
We've golden soil and wealth for toil,
Our home is girt by sea,
Our land abounds in natures gifts,
Of beauty rich and rare,
In history's page, let every stage
Advance Australia Fair!
In joyful strains then let us sing,
"Advance Australia Fair!"

Economic and Community Development Month

Rotary works locally and globally in many ways to alleviate poverty and to strengthen communities and individuals, particularly in developing countries.

Di's Dialogue # 15

Thank you to everyone who participated in the special DG visit Zoom meeting on Monday night.
Key points covered by Mark Humphries included the International Convention being held in Melbourne in 2023; Rotary 100 and the celebrations happening on 21 April, 2021 which will mark 100 years of Rotary in Australia; District 9820 Baton and ideas for using at various events to celebrate R100 at a local level; Foundation and the need to continue the fight to eradicate polio; Club citation and his hope that at least 50% of clubs in the District will achieve a citation; and early planning for the District Conference, which will be held 1-2 May, 2021. DG Mark is particularly keen to see town entry branding updated. We have already responded and Ross Maxfield is working on this and will report back via the Community Committee.
Our AG West Gippsland, Tim Wills, was also present in the Zoom meeting and was warmly welcomed.
Mark's partner, Linda, introduced members to her project and 'Mort' the mosquito! Her project, 'End Malaria in Vanuatu For Good' continues on from the work of Tom Shanahan, who was the Chair of RAM (Rotarians Against Malaria), for many years. Linda is keen to raise money specifically to end malaria in Vanuatu. The Board did discuss supporting the DG Partner's Project and I will report back to members at our Club Assembly on Monday night.
Thank you to Diane Wilkinson, Chair of Foundation/International for the promotion of World Polio Day happening on 24 October (Saturday) and liaising with Bryce Eishold to use social media to broadcast the importance of continuing the efforts to eradicate polio.
Saturday is also the AFL grand final between Richmond and Geelong to be played in Brisbane. My mother was a keen Geelong supporter and so I will be wearing her much-loved blue and white scarf as I watch the match on Saturday night.
Just for something a bit different this week, a classic comment from Dennis Commetti (Football commentator). Context- Matthew Carr and brother Josh were both outstanding mid-fielders for their respective clubs, Fremantle and Port Adelaide. Both wore the number 9. Inevitably they collided on field.
Dennis Commetti: 'That's a tough one for the umpires. A two-Carr collision and both with the same rego'
Enjoy the match and for those who don't follow football, I hope you have a lovely weekend doing something that warms your heart and soul...

The Sergeants have now collated all fines and I have sent out personal emails highlighting fines that you have been bestowed upon you, from approximately April to 14 September 2020
The amount you wish to contribute towards your fine is at your own discretion and can be banked directly to the General account.  Please state your 'name and fines' in the reference box when paying electronically
