Robin's Rambles #11
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has died aged 96.
When I prepared Ramble 11 earlier this week I could not have imagined a preface so solemn.
Many of us are feeling a sense of loss. For some of us the sense of loss is both unexpected and quite profound. My personal consolation is a sense of privilege that I have witnessed the reign of a remarkable Queen. On behalf of our Club I offer condolences to all of those experiencing loss and grief. As a mark of respect we will hold a minute of silence at the start of Monday's meeting.
There was good attendance on Monday 5th, with 3 zoomers. Di H was having a well earned break in Adelaide. Our guests from the Gippsland Christian Church Community Care were made very welcome, as Matthew Davey gave a very informative explanation of the Care Arm's role in supporting Members in our community who have hit difficult times. The recent “We Can Do Better” can collection project gave the care Arm a great resource to draw on over the next 12 months. The club was pleased to present Matt a cheque for $400, being funds collected during the project.
Congratulations to Jamie and Mary on the birth of their grand daughter on 6 September.
Thanks to Roger Taylor for arranging the raffle for the John Flynn book as part of his tribute to Australia. In 1928 John founded what later became the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia.
On Monday 12th we look forward to hearing a report from  Brad Graham on his experience in the Rotary youth Leadership Award program, both as a participant and subsequently as a leader.
Also our tribute to Australia on Monday will be given by Alan Bishop, a surprise item.

I saw an ad for burial plots, and thought to myself that's the last thing I need.

Intelligence is like underwear. It is important that you have it, but not necessary that you show it off.

A courtroom artist was arrested today for an unknown reason...details are sketchy.

People are making end of the world jokes like there's no tomorrow.

My dad died when we couldn't remember his blood type. As he died, he kept insisting "be positive," but it's hard without him.

Don't let your worries get the best of you; remember, Moses started out as a basket case.
